Main Article Content
Abstract
INTRODUCTION
Lymphatic filariasis (LF) remains a critical public health crisis, with 65% of global cases concentrated in Southeast Asia. In 2023, Indonesia recorded 7,955 cases, driven by mosquito-borne nematodes like Wuchereria bancrofi. Risk factors including Frequen mosquito exposure, Infected environments, Low socioeconomic status, Active outdoors, Reduced protection (no bed nets/clothing), Increasing age, and Adult males at higher risk, highlight the need for targeted interventions in high-risk tropical regions to achieve regional elimination
Objectives:
To ensure LF is eliminated for good and the community stays healthy and productive Therefore, encourage everyone to follow a simple and effective four-step plan:
- S - Swallowing annual medicine
- T - Tidying up stagnant water
- O - Observing clean hygiene habits
- P - Preventing mosquito bites.
METHOD
A literature review was conducted by analyzing peer-reviewed scientific journals published between 2020 and 2025. The study focused on data from various endemic regions across Indonesia, evaluating variables such as community knowledge, attitudes toward prevention, and environmental health determinants
RESULTS
We found that many people do not take the preventive medicine because they don't have enough information or don't realize how dangerous a mosquito bite can be. However, in areas where people trust their health workers and keep their neighborhoods clean, the disease has almost disappeared
CONCLUSION
To stop filariasis for good. we need everyone in the community to work together by following the S-T-O-P plan. By changing our daily habits and keeping our surroundings clean, we can protect our families from permanent disability and remove the heavy financial burden this disease places on our community.
